
LASTMA WARNS MASS TRANSIT BUS DRIVERS/OWNERS AGAINST CONTRAVENING TRAFFIC LAWS
Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) today warned mass transit bus drivers/Owners against contravening traffic laws.
The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki disclosed this today during a courtesy visit by Operators (Drivers/Owners) of Federal Mass Transit Buses to his Office at Oshodi, Lagos.
Mr. Bakare-Oki stated that the Agency would not compromise any form of illegality by bus or private cars drivers parking indiscriminately on roadside, Kerbs, Walkways, setbacks thereby obstructing the free movement of vehicles including other road users.
“I want to state categorically that you should ensure that your members are trained and re-trained so as not to run foul of traffic regulations”
“The newly introduced Traffic Management Solutions (TMS) cameras would bring sanity, transparency, orderliness, civility and voluntary compliance on traffic management and control on our roads across Lagos”
Earlier in his address the Chairman of Operators (Drivers/Owners of Federal Mass Transit buses Mr. Abed Achewa and his team acknowledged the importance of LASTMA Officers in improving travel time and ensuring free flow of traffic on Lagos roads.
While congratulating the new Ag. General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Achewa called for a more collaboration that would promotes safety of motoring public.
He however confirmed that the association have commenced proper enlightenment campaign on the need for their members to comply with the directive of the Government as enshrined into the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
