LASCOPA SET TO COMMEMORATE Y2024 WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY
Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) will on Friday, March 15, 2024, join over 200 Consumer movement groups worldwide to commemorate the year 2024 World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD), in raising global awareness of Consumer Rights, Consumer Protection and Empowerment with a Stakeholder engagement forum themed: “Fair and Responsible AI for Consumers”.
This year’s Celebration scheduled to take place at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos, will address several issues relating to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Consumer Education, their Rights and Safety towards achieving digital fairness.
The Agency’s General Manager, Afolabi Solebo disclosed that the programme will amongst others provide public awareness of Artificial intelligence to build a foundation for consumer trust as well as identify where policy interventions are needed to reduce harmful practices.
He added that the Conference would also serve as a platform for the Lagos State Government to unite Digital Leaders and Consumer Advocates in an impact-driven dialogue and debate series addressing themes, consumer empowerment, bias transparency and the future of Consumer Al.
According to Solebo, seasoned and expert speakers have been identified to speak and share their wealth of knowledge and experience at the event.
He further revealed that top Government officials, Technology experts, Consumer movement Groups, Relevant Regulatory Agencies, Manufacturers, and other Stakeholders are expected to attend the event.
