KOGI TRIBUNAL ADJOURNS SITTING TO MARCH 4
The hearing in the appeal brought by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its governorship candidate, Muritala Ajaka, who is contesting Usman Ododo’s election as Kogi State’s governor in the state’s election on November 11, 2023, has been postponed by the Kogi State Tribunal, located in Abuja.
Justice Yusuf Birnin-Kudu, the panel’s chairman, issued the adjournment after the petitioners’ attorney determined how many Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machines were in operation in certain Kogi State local government districts.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) sent a representative to confirm the results stored in the BVAS machine with regard to the five local governments that were being contested. This came after the petitioners’ submission and was in accordance with the court’s order that the BVAS machines be brought to court.
The head of the tribunal continued the hearing on March 4 after accepting the total number of BVAS machines in a few local administrations.
