NSCDC ARRESTS 30 YEAR-OLD MAN FOR VANDALISM IN JIGAWA
Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have apprehended a 30-year-old man, Inuwa Salisu, for allegedly vandalizing and stealing of streetlight solar batteries in Jigawa State.
Spokesman of the command ASC Badrudeen Tijjani Mahmud disclosed this in a statement.
He said the suspect was arrested on Friday in Gujungu, Taura Local Government Area.
He was arrested while intending to transport the stolen Roy solar batteries to Kano State for disposal.
The stolen batteries, valued at N350,000, were intercepted by the NSCDC surveillance team.
NSCDC State Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma, affirmed his commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, vowing to prosecute those attempting to undermine public security.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and provide valuable information to enhance the efforts of security operatives in combating crime.
He said the suspect confessed to the crime and will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction.
