
SPORTS MINISTER LAUDS GOV SANWO-OLU OVER SPORTING INITIATIVES
In a bid to propel Nigerian sports to new heights, the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, commended the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for its swift movement and rapid development in sporting programmes and initiatives.
He gave the commendation recently while playing host to the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, at his office in Abuja.
The Minister congratulated Fatodu on his recent appointment and lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment and outstanding contributions to sports development in Lagos State. He described Lagos as the nation’s “Powerhouse of Sports,” and pledged the Federal Government’s full support in collaborating with Lagos State in sports development efforts.
The Minister was particularly impressed by the commission’s initiatives, especially the focus of Lagos STARS (Sports Talents & Athlete Redefining Success) in identifying and nurturing young talents at the grassroots level, calling it a “blueprint for replicating sporting excellence across the nation.
Earlier, Fatodu expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and shared the vision of Governor Sanwo-Olu for sports in the state, as well as the efforts of the Lagos State Sports Commission in providing a sporting ecosystem and nurturing sports athletes and talents, towards making Nigeria the sports hub of Africa.
He further highlighted initiatives and programmes being implemented by the Commission.
