LAGOS GOVT SET TO CELEBRATE WORLD THEATRE DAY

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in conjunction with the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, is set to join the rest of the world to celebrate the Y2024 World Theatre day next week Wednesday at Alliance Francaise, Victoria Island by 3 pm prompt.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe said that World Theatre Day is an occasion to celebrate the rich fabric of theatrical arts that enrich our cultural landscape

According to him, the Ministry plans to make the event a memorable one and will feature a lineup of captivating performances from renowned Theatre groups, including Crown group, Footprints of David Kings and Queen Wura, the Lagos State Council of Art’s Troupe amongst many others

He said in addition to this captivating performances, the event is expected to be graced by esteemed veterans of the Theatre world that include the legendary Joke Silva, esteemed Professor Oni, the Diplomatic Community and top entertainers among other distinguished personalities

“This yearā€™s World Theatre Day celebration promises to be an unforgettable experience showcasing the diversity and dynamism of Nigeria’s Vibrant theatrical community. As such, we invite theatre enthusiasts and culture aficionados alike to join us in honouring the transformative power of the performing arts”, he stated

The Special Adviser said attendees should look forward to an afternoon filled with mesmerising performances, thought-provoking discussions, and ample opportunity to network with like minds in the Theatre World

The World Theatre Day is celebrated across the globe on the 27th March every year. The celebration usually entails stirring dramas, captivating musicals and an overall theatrical excitement for everyone.
