RHIESS: LAGOS FIRST LADY PRESENTS CASH, GIFTS TO ANOTHER SET OF BENEFICIARIES
The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has presented cash tokens and gift items to new beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS), emphasising that the government will continue to support senior citizens aimed at positively influencing their lives.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu affirmed this today, at the Lagos Edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS) held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja.
She revealed that the initiative championed by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (CON), is borne out of her steadfast commitment to the well-being of elderly citizens, noting that this significant stride is in the government collective pursuit of a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu recalled that the RHIESS initiative launched in December, last year, by Senator Oluremi Tinubu produced 250 beneficiaries from each of the 36 States of the federation, emphasising that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Lagos Edition being launched today is targeted at 80 beneficiaries in the first instance.
The First Lady opined that this gesture will further cushion the effect of the economic situation and alleviate the burdens of the beneficiaries during this Ramadan period and Easter celebration.
She charged the senior citizens to prioritise their well-being and health, saying “To our senior citizens, I urge you to embrace life to the fullest, prioritise your health, nurture your minds, and strengthen your bonds with loved ones and with God. These are the keys to a rich and fulfilling life in your golden years”.
The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm. Toyin Oke-Osayintolu; Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Akinrinade Morakinyo and staff of the Office of the First Lady among others.
