TWO NASARAWA VARSITY STUDENTS DIE IN STAMPEDE, 23 HOSPITALISED DURING DISTRIBUTION OF PALLIATIVES
While 23 students were admitted to the hospital, two students from Nasarawa State University in Keffi perished during the distribution of palliative care.
Abraham Habu, the school’s head of information, revealed this in a phone conversation.
He claimed that in order to lessen the impact of the financial difficulties, the school had received palliatives from the state government.
He claims that the palliatives were scheduled to be distributed today in the school’s convocation stadium, but some students managed to overwhelm the on-site security, starting a stampede that left several students dead or injured as they carried the food items away.
He continued by saying that everything is back to normal and that the 23 pupils are getting medical care.
The distribution of palliatives to students at the state’s postsecondary institutions was started early this week by the Nasarawa State government.
The early-week distribution has helped 9,000 students from tertiary institutions in Lafia and Akwanga.
