REASON BEHIND KANO PILLARS’ HEAVY LOSS TO ENYIMBA – COACH MAIKABA
Kano Pillars technical adviser Abdullahi Maikaba has revealed that the failure of the state government to appoint a substantial sports commissioner was the reason behind the team’s recent struggles in away games.
The Sai Masu Gida arrived Aba, the venue of their matchday 28 fixture against Enyimba, on the same day of the match.
Kano Pillars were humiliated 5-0 by the People’s Elephant in the encounter.
Maikaba expressed relief with the screening of two persons for the position.

“The game against Enyimba was difficult looking at the way we travelled which affected the team completely,” he stated to the media.
“We tried to play the game as scheduled as a day before the game we are still trying to get a flight to a nearby place so the place we can get is Port Harcourt which we have to arrive 2 am on the day of the match it was difficult as per my experience and am not surprised the boys could not play well in the game.
“Kano state didn’t appoint a sports commissioner, it was just on Tuesday they screened two candidates for that position.
“I believe that is the main problem for our struggle as we don’t have a commissioner for sports and it’s becoming difficult for the management to get a way out of it, it’s a government club and it’s very difficult sometimes most especially this era to get funds for the team.
“Maybe things will get better if the Kano State government quickly appoints a sports commissioner which I believe will solve the problems of Kano Pillars.
“We are in a very good position with the squad that we have still we are not far from a continental spot we can still recover and achieve our target for the season.”
