ATALANTA’S LOOKMAN EYES PREMIER LEAGUE SUMMER RETURN
Super Eagles and Atalanta BC forward, Ademola Olajade Lookman, has set his eyes on a return to the English Premier League after two seasons in the Italian Serie A.
The 26-year-old was Nigeria’s joint top-scorer at the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast with three goals alongside William Troost-Ekong. Lookman has also been involved in 14 goals in the league for Atalanta this season, scoring eight and creating six in 26 games.
Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 in a deal worth €10.00m and has been consistent for the Orobici, scoring 24 goals and creating another 14 in 68 games, recording his best career output in Italy.
As per Tutto Atalanta, the former Fulham man wants to quit playing football in Italy, with a return to England in the summer understood to be his preference.
The report revealed that the Nigerian forward never really settled into life in Italy due to vast cultural differences from his experiences in Germany and England. However, that didn’t deter him from putting up great numbers.
The former Everton man has never been reported to be a problem in the Atalanta dressing room, as he’s kept his focus completely on football. No clubs have been linked with the versatile forward, but Lookman will ask to leave the club if an offer comes in.
Valued at €30m, Lookman’s contract with Atalanta expires in 2026. With the absence of renewal talks, Atalanta might not be able to hold on to the England-born Nigeria much longer, hinting at a possible summer move.
Atalanta are currently 6th on the Serie A table, and with six games left till the end of the season, they have a huge chance of claiming a UEFA Champions League slot next season.
