“FINIDI SHOULDN’T BE EARNING LESS THAN N30m” – EX-SUPER EAGLES MEDIA OFFICER IBITOYE
Former Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye has stated that he expects the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to place newly-appointed Nigeria coach Finidi George on a salary of ₦30-40 million monthly, Soccernet.ng reports.
After nearly two months without a permanent manager, the NFF announced Finidi as the new coach for the Super Eagles.

The Enyimba coach has been part of the team for almost two years, serving as an assistant under former coach Jose Peseiro. He has been the interim coach, leading the Super Eagles in the last international break when they played Mali and Ghana.
Finally he got the job on a permanent basis on Monday, as related by the NFF. However, they did not share details about the duration of the contract or the salary.
Over the years, the NFF have shown a preference for foreign coaches, paying them far higher than what they pay indigenous coaches. The former media officer of the Super Eagles Ibitoye has witnessed this many times, but he opines that there should be a change,
“The last foreign coaches we had, one was $48,000, the other was $70,000. How much are we going to be paying Finidi George? It shouldn’t be anything less than ₦30-40 million a month,” Ibitoye said per Babatunder Ojora.
Finidi’s immediate job is to lead Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin. If he fails to do so, he could be booted out.
