POLICE ARREST 40 SUSPECTS IN YABA
On Tuesday night, 40 suspected criminals were taken into custody by Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) agents in several Yaba dark areas.
About 10:00 p.m., the 40 suspects were taken into custody when Rapid Response Squad (RRS) agents and Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency members raided the area.
The raid follows public complaints on the actions of thieves who deceive bystanders and take their personal property.
After receiving complaints and the commissioner of police’s consent, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), gave the operatives instructions to start discreetly monitoring the area before making an arrest.
During the operation, 40 suspects were taken into custody; nine of them were later released to be with their families following a comprehensive background check conducted by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi at RRS Headquarters, Alausa.
In accordance with the commissioner of police’s orders, the Commander has mandated that the 31 suspects be charged in court.
