The initiative which spanned across Iru/Victoria Island and the riverine areas of Lekki LCDA, according to the Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, marks a significant stride towards fostering a healthier future for the youth of Lagos.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative recently, Dr. Adeleke emphasised the importance of ensuring access to top-notch healthcare services for students, while also empowering them with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead healthy lives.

She stated that the School Health Programme will enable students to excel academically and personally as sound health is needed to optimally function in academics.

Adeleke said, “The inaugural School Health Programme showcased an array of services tailored to address the diverse health needs of students. From deworming medication to medical, nutritional, dental, and eye screenings, students received comprehensive care to safeguard their well-being.

“Additionally, health education and promotion sessions were conducted to equip students with vital information on maintaining optimal health”.

The Permanent Secretary noted that the initiative not only underscores the interconnectedness between schools and communities but also aligns with the broader goals outlined in the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the State Government.

She expressed the belief that by prioritising the health of young individuals, especially students, the Health District is paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous future for all citizens, saying “Together, we are forging a path towards a healthier future for all”.
