VIDEO: LAGOS BEGINS REMOVAL OF 100 ADENIJI-ADELE UNDERBRIDGE SHANTIES
The Lagos government has commenced the removal of over 100 shanties in the Adeniji Adele under-bridge area of the state.
This was made known by the Lagos commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on X.com on Monday.
He wrote, āThe joint task force of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) and Lagos State Environment and Special Offences team, commenced the removal of shanties and makeshift structures built under Adeniji Adele bridge after expiration of the vacation notice.ā
Recall that Tokunbo disclosed on Sunday that the removal of over 100 shanties under the bridge at Adeniji Adele would commence today following the expiration of a 48-hour removal notice served on all occupants of the shanties to move with their belongings.
Last week, the state government said that it has intensified efforts to arrest suspected gang leaders who rented out 86 apartments in the Dolphin Estate Bridge in Ikoyi.
Following a discovery by the state government last Wednesday, it was revealed that 86 partitioned rooms, measuring 10Ć10 and 12Ć10, were being used as makeshift apartments under the bridge. Tenants occupying these rooms are reportedly paying N250,000 per year
