OVER 200 HOUSES DESTROYED, THREE PERSONS INJURED AS RAINSTORM HITS PLATEAU VILLAGE
A downpour that lifted off rooftops in the Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, damaged no more than 200 homes, including a healthcare facility, classrooms, business spaces, and poultry farms.
Three people were hurt and seeking treatment during the early Monday downpour, but several others were left homeless. No one perished as a result of the downpour.
However, according to the Miango Youth Development Association, a sociocultural organisation in the district, some of the impacted individuals have taken sanctuary with nearby residents.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the state government should act quickly, according to a statement released by the group’s spokesman, Nuhu Nga, especially for individuals who have lost belongings in the catastrophe.
Fidelis Adara, the Local Government Area’s Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, stated that the local government has taken the necessary actions to request assistance from NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency in order to provide aid to those in need.
