POLICE BEGINS PROBE AS TWO DIES IN ONDO AFTER DRINKING CONCOCTION
Following the consumption of a herbal mixture at a celebration in Isua-Akoko, Akoko South East Local Government Area, Ondo State, two people have passed away.
After consuming the mixture on Saturday, it was reported that the man who made the concoction, Alex Ojulewa, and a middle-aged man named Samuel Alonge, who travelled from Abuja for the celebration, began to throw up and passed away en route to the hospital.
The third person who drank the mixture is in the hospital getting treated right now.
On Tuesday, the event was confirmed by the Ondo State Police Command.
The Ondo State Police Command’s public relations officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated over the phone that the police would determine what caused their demise.
“A chief came and reported at Isua police station that one Mr Ojulewa prepared a native concoction, locally called ‘Agbo’ which he drank with two others, and thereafter the trio started vomiting,” she said.
“While on their way to the hospital, the duo of Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel gave up the ghost while Adu Johnson is in a coma receiving medical treatment, investigation is ongoing.
“The police has since commenced investigation to reveal the cause of the death of the victims.”
