SUSPENSION: COURT SET MAY 28 FOR HEARING IN GANDUJE’S CASE
Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has filed a substantive application, and Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court, Kano, has scheduled a hearing for May 28.
Ganduje is arguing against the factional ward executives, led by Basiru Nuhu Isa, suspending him from the party.
APC ward executives under Haladu Gwanjo’s leadership initially suspended Ganduje on April 15, which marked the beginning of his suspension ordeal. But on April 20, a different faction surfaced and declared Ganduje suspended, further complicating matters.
The party secretary in Kano, Zakari Sarina, condemned the faction’s conduct following the second suspension, calling it an instance of impersonation.
Using Hadiza Nasir Ahmad as his legal agent, Ganduje is pursuing legal action, claiming that his suspension without a chance to defend himself violates his fundamental right to a fair trial. In addition, he argues that the faction’s suspension of him is illegal, invalid, and unconstitutional.
Justice Liman allowed Ganduje’s attorney’s request to serve the respondents by substituted means in a recent court procedure. As a result, the court has postponed the case until May 28 in order to hold a thorough hearing.
