On Tuesday night, there was a gas explosion in Lagos’ Ibeju-Lekki neighborhood that left two people dead and numerous others injured.

Only a week has passed since a comparable explosion in the heavily populated Ajegunle neighborhood, which caused numerous people to suffer serious burns.

The explosion, which happened at a gas retail store in Abule Folly, is said to have caused a fire that spread to nearby businesses and destroyed items.

The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

ā€œThe explosion resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including the shipownerā€™s younger sister and a male customer. Three others were injured and are receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital. Four shops were completely destroyed in the blaze.ā€

ā€œThe injured victims are undergoing treatment, while the remains of the deceased have been taken to the morgue for preservation.ā€

ā€œThe extent of the property damage is still being assessed. Emergency responders, including firefighters and other agencies, were on the scene to provide assistance.ā€
