PRINCE HARRY, MEGHAN MARKLE ARRIVE NIGERIA TO PROMOTE INVICTUS GAME
In order to promote the Invictus Games, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, arrived in Nigeria for their 72-hour tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex boarded an overnight flight on British Airways to Abuja, arriving on Friday in the most populous country in Africa.
The Daily Mail claims that because the scheduled pilot became ill and a replacement had to be immediately arranged, the flight had a short delay.
According to yesterday’s Vanguard story, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), invited Harry and Meghan to Nigeria so they could meet with injured soldiers.
Director Sports, Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis made this known on Thursday.
Marquis said that Harry, the founder of Invictus Games will spend three days in Nigeria, interacting with wounded soldiers and their families.
The DHQ sports director noted that the visit slated from 10th to 13th May 2024 will help the wounded soldiers in their recovery efforts.
“We realised that 80% of our soldiers have been involved in this recovery programme, they are getting better. Their outlook to life is positive,” AVM Marquis said.
Meanwhile as they arrived in Nigeria this morning, some Nigerian officials met them on arrival, just before 5 am, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Afterward, they were taken out of a side door onto the jetty, and into a waiting blacked-out minibus.

“They will be tired after their journey, so they will rest and then the first engagement is at midday at the Defence Headquarters,” defence spokesperson Brigadier General Tukur Gusau told the Daily Mail.
“After that, they will travel to Kaduna to meet wounded soldiers at a military hospital there before returning to Abuja for other engagements.”
This is the first time the couple would visit Nigeria together.
