UPDATE: PRINCE HARRY VISITS KADUNA, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS
As part of his operations in Nigeria, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, paid visits to soldiers who sustained injuries during combat as well as Kaduna State’s governor, Uba Sani.
Leading military officers from Nigeria and a few aides joined the prince when he arrived at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna on Friday afternoon.
Governor Sani greeted the prince and thanked him for his support of injured soldiers in combat and identification with the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The governor said that these kinds of visits will do a great deal to cheer up the courageous and tenacious officers and soldiers.
He claims that Prince Harry’s visit demonstrates his dedication to promoting healing, encouraging rehabilitation, and increasing respect for Nigerian Aemy.
Prince Harry stated that he is in Nigeria in order to treat injured Nigerian soldiers and their families with smiles through the Invictus Games, which he started ten years ago.
Governor Sani dressed Prince Harry in traditional Hausa garb and gave him a few gifts in keeping with the culture of hospitality.
Prince Harry and his entourage went to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital from the Kaduna State Government House to speak with injured troops undergoing treatment.
The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, denied journalists access to the hospital wards, citing the impact the visit would have on the lives of injured soldiers and their families.
With ten athletes from the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria became the first nation in Africa to compete in the Invictus Games, which were hosted in Germany last year.
68 years had passed since Prince Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, visited Kaduna during the reign of the late Northern Region Premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
