EDO POLICE CONFIRM KIDNAP OF DANGOTE CEMENT WORKERS, SAY RESCUE EFFORTS ONGOING
The kidnapping of several people in Okpella, in the state’s Etsako East Local Government Area, who are allegedly employees of the Dangote Cement Company, has been confirmed by the Edo State Police Command.
In an interview with Channels Television, the Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the event and said that efforts are still underway to free the kidnapping victims.
The state’s Etsako East Local Government Area is where the workers were abducted on Monday night.
According to the state police spokeswoman, the Divisional Police Officer of Okpella Division assembled a group of officers for a bush-combing exercise as soon as he received information about the occurrence.
He added that troops, vigilantes, and hunters participated in the drill alongside the police.
Nwabuzor claims that some of the kidnapping victims have been freed.
As the situation developed, the command promised to release additional information about the incident.
