INSECURITY: DOZENS FEARED KIDNAPPED AS BANDITS INVADE YAR-MALAMAI VILLAGE IN KATSINA
Bandits with advanced weapons are reported to have stormed Yar-Malamai hamlet in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, kidnapping dozens of villagers—mostly women and children—and frightening a few others.
According to a local resident who spoke with our journalist on Wednesday, the attack happened on Monday, a few hours after the same thugs raided a nearby military barracks and murdered some troops who had been sent there.
He continued by saying that throughout the hours-long assault, the thugs also set fire to other homes and stole goods from numerous stores.
“As I am speaking to you right now, majority of the people living in the village have deserted the area in fear of another attack.
“The residents have migrated to safer communities in the town, they are in dire need of food and shelter. Government and other well to do individuals should please come to our aid,” the resident said.
The incident has not yet been confirmed by the government or security services as of the time this report was filled out.
When called, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police spokesperson, stated he would speak with our correspondent once the matter had been clarified.
