FRSC CONFIRMS SEVEN DEAD, 15 INJURED IN OYO ROAD CRASH
In a traffic collision at Ijaye on Ibadan/Iseyin, seven people have died and fifteen more have been injured.
At the state Sector Command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, on Friday, Tunde Adewale, the Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Sector Command, revealed this.
According to Adewale, the event happened on Thursday in the state’s Akinyele Local Government Area, not far from Ijaye town.
He clarified that two commercial vehicles, LGB 343 XA Mazda white color bus with 22 occupants and SEY 254 XY Nissan white color bus, were involved in the collision.
He said the accident involved eight male adults, 12 female adults and two children.
The DCC explained further that five male adults, one female adult, and one female child were confirmed dead in the accident.
Adewale attributed the incident to a head-on collision during a downpour.
He added that the injured ones were currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital while the corpses had been deposited at the morgue.
He said, “The accident involved 22 people. Seven died and 15 were injured. The two categories were commercial vehicles. They had a head-on collision as a result of a heavy fall of rain shortly after Ijaye town.
“It involved a Nissan commercial bus, with registration number, SEY 254 XY, and a Mazda commercial bus with registration number, LGB 343 XA. Five male adults, one female adult and one female child all died in the accident.”
The DCC, therefore, urged motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations and also adhere strictly to all traffic cautions on the road to prevent avoidable crashes.
Investigations by our Correspondent, however, revealed that four of the seven corpses of the victims had been claimed by their families, while the remaining three are still at the mortuary.
