ARSENAL YOUNGSTAR, ARTHUR OKONKWO OPEN TO REPRESENTING NIGERIA
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo says he is open to representing either Nigeria or England at the international level.
Okonkwo, 22, was born in England to Nigerian parents.
The shot stopper has played for England at youth level but is still eligible to play for Nigeria through his ancestry.
There have been persistent rumours he could be handed an invitation to the Super Eagles for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Okonkwo, however, admitted that even though he is yet to make up his mind on his international future, he is open to representing the three-time African champions.
“I’m still really ambitious to play at the international level. I can still play for England or Nigeria, and I’ve not made a choice yet,” he told The Mirror.
The young goalie impressed on loan at Wrexham last season.
He helped the club gain promotion to League One.
