JUST IN: 11-YEAR-OLD CONFIRMED DEAD IN LAGOS MOSQUE COLLAPSE, RESCUE EFFORTS ONGOING
An 11-year old girl has been confirmed dead in the Lagos Mosque collapse on Sunday.
The corpse of an 11-year-old girl was recovered by the emergency responders at the scene of the collapse in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State on Sunday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident while responding to one of our correspondent’s inquiries about the rescue operation at the scene of the tragedy.
He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”
According to reports gathered, people were in the mosque when it suddenly caved in during afternoon prayers.
While some people escaped from the incident, others, who were unlucky, got trapped under the rubble.
Alarmed by the development, people, while attempting to rescue some of the trapped victims, informed emergency responders, including the police who stormed the premises to commence the rescue operation.
