PRES. TINUBU SET TO ADDRESS JOINT NASS SITTING ON MAY 29
On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, President Bola Tinubu will speak to the National Assembly (NASS) at a joint session.
The President will address the MPs on the status of the country and commission the NASS Library, according to a statement from Sani Tambawal, Clerk to the National Assembly.
āThis is to inform Distinguished Senators and Hourable Members that as part the event to commemorate 25 years of unbroken democracy and Legislature in Nigeria, there will be joint sitting of both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Wednesday 29 May, 2024,ā the statement partly read.
āPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, will address the joint sitting on state of the nation and also commission the National Assembly Library.
āDistinguished Senators and Honourable Members are expected to be seated by 9am.ā
President Tinubu, who was sworn in on May 29, 2023, will mark his first anniversary in office on Wednesday. The Tinubu government introduced some reforms like petrol subsidy removal and unification of the foreign exchange windows but continues to battle the effects of such policies with soaring inflation rates and high cost of living crisis. The Presidentās handling of the state of the economy has attracted criticism from many Nigerians including elder statesmen and the Organised Labour like the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
