UPDATE: POLICE RECOVER THREE AK-49 RIFLES IN DELTA CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS
In their ongoing campaign against crime and criminality in the area, Delta State Police Command operations have busted a criminal hideaway in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The command said that it had received an intelligence tip on the whereabouts of some suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele, and the surrounding areas in the bush near Uwurghelli village along the rail tracks from a worried vigilante member in Agbarho (name withheld).
Following the intelligence, Josephine Ekebuike, the Divisional Police Officer of the Agbarho Police Division, quickly led police officers to the bush, blocked off the entire area, and conducted a search during which sack bags were discovered concealed in the woods.
Three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were found during the check of the sack bags.
As a result, the command has started a manhunt for the alleged kidnappers who are on the run.
Olufemi Abaniwonda, the Commissioner of Police, meanwhile, praised the Agbarho Division’s DPO and soldiers for their swift reaction to the intelligence.
According to the police chief, “police-community partnership is the best for optimal results.”
