ALLEGED ASSAULT: 25 AJAYI CROWTHER VARSITY STUDENTS ARRAIGNED IN COURT
Following a disciplinary issue at the university, twenty-five students from Ajayi Crowther University were prosecuted on Wednesday in the Chief Magistrate Court in Oyo for assault and disorderly behaviour. The students allegedly beat a fellow student, Alex Timileyin, to death.
Remember that Timileyin was allegedly beaten to death by his peers at Shepherd Inn hostel after they suspected him of stealing a cell phone?
A student of the institution, who preferred anonymity, while speaking with Journalists, confirmed the arraignment of the 25 students, saying: “Yes, they were arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court in Oyo.”
“Tension is high, as relatives of the deceased student have descended on the city of Oyo to demand justice, staging protests to make their voices heard.
“The situation remains volatile as authorities try to manage the aftermath of the violent incident.”
