LASTMA RESCUES DRIVER IN LONE ACCIDENT AT ILUBIRIN, LAGOS ISLAND
A driver involved in a lone accident at Ilubirin, near Adeniji Adele area on Lagos Island, was swiftly rescued today by operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, confirmed that the driver was immediately taken to the General Hospital by LASAMBUS Officials, with assistance from personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Initial investigations revealed that the driver of a white Suzuki ‘Korope’ (LSR 116 YD) lost control while using a mobile phone, causing the vehicle to collide with a culvert beside the 3rd Mainland Expressway.
The driver sustained a serious back fracture and injury to his left hand.
“LASTMA personnel immediately contacted other emergency responders, including Lasambus officials and police officers from the Adeniji Adele Police Station,”
“Our team promptly removed the damaged Suzuki from the expressway to ensure smooth traffic flow towards Iyana-Oworo on the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, expressed sympathies to the injured driver and emphasized the importance of road safety. He urged all motorists, including commercial bus drivers, to avoid using phones while driving and to refrain from speeding within or outside Lagos.
