… Charges Muslim Sisters to Uphold Values of Islam, Embrace Societal Responsibilities

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has acknowledged the role of women in nation-building, noting that their significant contributions has positively influenced the economical and political growth of the Nation

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, who stated this on Tuesday at Y2024 Muslim Sisters’ Seminar held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, added that the annual gathering has grown into a significant platform for Muslim women to engage, learn and take actionable steps towards the good of society.

The First Lady, represented at the event by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, highlighted the incredible roles of women in their respective homes, workplace, various worship Centres among others, emphasising that women are truly the salt needed to create a balance in this world.

She maintained that women generally are catalysts for nurturing, guiding and reforming future generations.

According to her, “Our Women are embodiment of love, strength, sacrifice, courage and the principles and faith imbued by women into the souls of a nation. They are indispensable for sustainable development”.

Dr Sanwo-Olu explained that the theme for the programme: “Society on the Brink: Islam to the Rescue”, further underscores the immense potential and responsibilities of women in navigating the complexities of the present contemporary society.

She further stressed that the annual seminar also highlight the essence of sacrifice during Eid-el-Adha, which signifies willingness to obey Allah’s command and most importantly sensitizing Muslim women on contemporary social issues affecting various communities and how to proffer solutions to engender sustainable and positive change.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, therefore, charged participants to uphold the values of Islam, embrace societal responsibilities and work towards building a resilient and thriving society.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Imam of Lekki Branch, Dr. Jamiu Ridwanullah Kayode while delivering his lecture on “Family ties; the Fundamental Link to Nation Building”, exemplified the importance of building a healthy, united and strong family inline with the Holy Quran, opining that this will further contribute to the growth and progress of every society.

Dr. Kayode charged participants to foster family ties and values so as to salvage the society from the imminent danger.

Highpoint of the event were lectures on facing life challenges as a Muslimaah, role of technology in emerging security issues, Family ties, the fundamental link to Nation Building, Health and Entrepreneurship, among other topical issues.

The event had the attendance of the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Mrs. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Barr. Odunuga-Bakare Barakat; Representative of the Chief Judge, Hon. K.A Jose, Body of Permanent Secretaries, Top Government Functionaries, APC Party Women Leaders, Religious Leaders and Organizations, among others.
