NFF DENIES BANNING OSIMHEN FROM SUPER EAGLES OVER ONLINE RANT
The Nigeria Football Football Federation (NFF) have debunked rumours that they have suspended Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen following his viral social media rant.
Last weekend, Napoli star Osimhen took to social media to rant after fake reports that former Super Eagles coach Finidi George had questioned his commitment to the team.
The reigning CAF Champions League Player of the Year spoke about Finidi in a disrespectful manner and cussed at fans who were criticizing him.
That action has caused a lot of controversy in Nigerian football, and some former Nigeria internationals have called for Osimhen’s head. And on Wednesday, there was news circulating through the media that the NFF had decided to suspend the Super Eagles star.
However, the NFF have come out to debunk such claims. According to the release by the highest football governing body in Nigeria, they are focused on resolving the lingering issues surrounding the Super Eagles.
“Our focus presently is to resolve all matters around the Super Eagles and be able to look ahead with confidence to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series,” the NFF said.
Meanwhile, despite follow-up reports that the post which triggered Osimhen was false, the Napoli star has not come out to apologize to the NFF or Finidi.
