Mrs Labode was a Former Principal, Teacher, and even an ex-student of the school before her death.

In a celebratory mood, the Old girls took turns to give account of their experiences with the late Principal at the LAGGS Chapel Hall where they gathered.

The National President of LAGGSOGA, Grace Okezie, said, “Mummy Labode was a woman of Valour. A strict but a Loving mother who was compassionate, dedicated to her work.”

“We have one phenomenal concerning her, an adage that says, ‘Tete jaye, ko ma ba je pe, ma tete jaye ko ba jepe’ and she also gave us some commands that ‘a lady is not seen but heard’ and that a lady is supposed to walk with her shoulder high, stomach tucked in, and chest out. All these command makes you a classy lady.”

“Mummy Labode was a great Woman, her works for her, her actions and everything she does shows that she is a woman to be remembered. She is someone that we should carry her values on forever.

“We have lost a great person but we find solace and gratitude that she has gone to rest with the Lord and on this note, I express my heartfelt condolenses to the immediate family, the loved ones, her friends and even the school that she has left behind. May her Soul rest in Peace.

Mrs. Sunola Are-Adegbite, described Mrs. Labode as a sister, Mentor, teacher and also principal who she has always seen as a loyal person.

She said, “I have worked with her for fourteen years and I have never seen her not as a loyal person. She taught me never to lie. Mrs. Labode also, told me to always raise my head with integrity.”

“I thank God for her life and I’m here to see the parting of her life. She is wonderful, meticulous to a fault and I would say that she will forever be missed and always be remembered for her impacts in our lives.”

On her part, a representatives of the 1993 OGA set, Lydia Obi Nwaje, described her as not just a pricipal but a disciplinarian whose legacy cannot be matched.

“Sometimes, I move sluggishly and I can still hear her voice in my head saying, ‘Stand up straight, chest high, tommy in, chest out, and walk like a lady. These were the simple things she imbided in our lives but it went a long way in moulding who we all are today and i must say that we will all miss her. My happiness is that I still got to see her a few months ago but, though she is gone, she still definitely lives in our hearts. We love you Mummy Labode!”

Meanwhile, Mrs Tokunbo Ladega said, “Mummy Labode was my class teacher, my chemistry teacher as well. She was very strict and disciplined because obviously she was taught like the best.”

“Mrs Labode didn’t spare anybody, she didn’t waste time in telling you when you messed up. She also defended her teachers and looked out for them.”

“In my set, wehad a nickname for her, we called her Sisi Risi because it meant that if you misbehave, if she noticed, she will call you out.”

She however empathised with family of the deceased saying,”It is not a loss but a blessing to have her in the family.”
