The Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) has taken steps to continually raise awareness and educate various communities, including Traditional Medicine Practitioners, on prevention and control measures on the Cholera outbreak in the State to the street.

The LSTMB team, led by the Registrar, Prince Babatunde Adele, on Monday, carried out sensitization campaigns in various locations within Lagos Island including Pelewura, Adeniji Adele Road and Koilo Street, amongst others.

During the campaign, Adele said the Agency will distribute handbills in both English and Yoruba languages to ensure that the local population receives crucial information on preventing and controlling the disease.

According to him, “The handbills contain essential tips on how to prevent cholera, including proper hygiene practices, safe water and food handling and early identification of symptoms. By providing information in both languages, the Board aims to reach a wider audience and ensure that the message is effectively communicated to all residents in the area”.

Adele further stated that the cholera outbreak continues to pose a threat to public health, the Board remains committed to working closely with the community and other stakeholders to prevent the further spread of the disease by fostering collaboration and raising awareness to mitigate the impact of the outbreak and protect the health and well-being of Lagosians.

He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating the spread of cholera, noting that through the sensitisation efforts, LSTMB seeks to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves and their communities from the Cholera Outbreak.
