Salman Garba, the recently appointed Commissioner of the Kano State Police, has refuted the claim that he is a blood relative of the ousted Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, stating that his purpose in Kano is to serve all people, regardless of their race, religion, or color.

At his first press briefing, which took place on Wednesday at the command headquarters in Bompai Kano, the commissioner made the pledge.

He claimed that the action was required to fight crime, uphold the rule of law, and guarantee that the state is one of peace and stability.

ā€œThe security of life and property is our primary concern, and we will work according to the provisions of the law.

ā€œWe have already developed an action plan that revolves around collaborative policing after carefully studying the trend of the crime pattern,ā€ the CP said.

In order to combat the return of thuggery (Daba) and other criminal activity in specific areas of the Kano metropolis, Garba promised to assist and empower officers and men of the command.

ā€œI am first and foremost a Nigerian, and I am here to serve Nigerians. The news of me belonging to the same family as Bayero is new to me; this is the first time I am hearing it. For me, I will do my best for Kano,ā€ he stated.

He assured the public of his commitment to ensuring effective security measures in the state by being committed to ā€œcreating a safer and more secure environment where residents can thrive, businesses can flourish and visitors can feel welcomed to the state,ā€

Garba, who acknowledged the challenges facing the state, also emphasised the need for collective responsibility in addressing security concerns and pledged to work closely with the government and citizens to build trust and ensure a safer Kano State.

He commended his predecessor, AIG Usaini Gumel, for his achievements and promised to build on his legacy.

Garba urged the public to support the police in their efforts to ensure peace and stability in the state.
