MAYORESS OF IKOSI-ISHERI LCDA HOSTS STAKEHOLDERS PARLEY ON SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION
The Mayoress Of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, on Thursday, hosted a parley to discuss the sustainable economy transformation through stakeholder’s engagement.
The parley which was held at the Sen. Bayo Oshinowo Hall in the LCDA secretariat was organized as part of the Mayoress’ agenda in getting the stakeholder’s feedback and suggestions on the community development.
While giving her remarks during the event, she expressed her commitment to listening to the yearnings of the stakeholders and ensuring that they get the appropriate answers to their worries.
She also noted that stakeholder engagement is vital for the community, businesses, and planet.
Mayoress Bada reminded everyone of the importance of continued collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
She said, “Despite the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, at the start of my tenure, our team demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. We leveraged technology, innovation, and collective determination to mitigate the impact of the pandemic and continue delivering essential services to our community.”
Mayoress Bada reaffirms her commitment with her slogan: ‘My heart is where my community is’ while noting that Ikosi-Isheri LCDA is committed to providing security, infrastructure, health safety, and a hazard-free environment to help businesses thrive.
She however, called for the support of residents and stakeholders so as to continue to enhance these essential services and foster a prosperous community.

While giving his lecture during the parley, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Rotimi Olowo, underlined the value of inclusive governance and teamwork in attaining economic sustainability and comprehensive development in Lagos.
In order to meet the requirements of the populace, Olowo emphasised the necessity of cooperation across a range of stakeholders, including the government, local government chairmen, and citizens.
He supported ongoing community participation beyond yearly budget processes and applauded programmes like town hall meetings that solicit feedback from stakeholders on development projects.
The former assembly member also spoke about the importance of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in resolving Lagos’ housing shortage, especially in constrained areas.
In order to provide the basic necessities of housing, shelter, and food, he underlined the necessity for all inhabitants to have access to long-lasting, reasonably priced homes, not only luxury complexes.
Olowo applauded Princess Samiat Bada for initiating this programme to involve her people, stating that it is a positive step towards attaining economic sustainability and all-encompassing development in the LCDA. In order to solve the housing crisis and guarantee that every resident’s requirements are properly satisfied, he suggested employing PPPs.
Olowo concluded by highlighting the significance of cooperation, inclusive governance, and ongoing community involvement in achieving economic sustainability and all-encompassing development in Lagos.
Otunba Yetunde Arobieke, a former commissioner while given her suggestions underlined the value of stakeholder participation in closing the communication gap between the residents of Ikosi-Isheri and the local government.
She applauded Princess Samiat Bada for starting a conversation with interested parties and emphasising the necessity for residents to inform their local government of their wants and problems in order to receive practical solutions.
Arobieke emphasised the need for residents to get more involved with their local government in order to improve problem-solving and communication. She addressed the myth that nothing positive can come from the government, highlighting the necessity of debunking this idea to stop people from depriving themselves of necessary benefits and services.
The former Commissioner encouraged citizens to engage with their local government, noting that local governments are adequately funded, stating in Lagos State under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu. She assured that local government resources are protected and utilized to address various challenges faced by citizens in their communities.
Hon. Femi Saheed, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe constituency 2, expressed his optimism about the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA engagement parley, describing it as a significant step towards fostering innovation and collaborative efforts between citizens and the Government.
According to him, the community engagement aims to nurture a symbiotic relationship between citizens and the Government, ensuring that the needs and desires of citizens are effectively understood and addressed through cooperation between the two parties.
Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Executive Chairman Mayor Dele Oshinowo praised the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA for her admirable initiative in interacting with community stakeholders. He applauded the LCDA’s initiatives to promote cooperation and group action in the direction of sustainable economic transformation.
“It is essential for banks and private sector operators to support their host community, no matter what,” Mayor Oshinowo said. “By doing so, they will not only be giving back to the community but also creating a conducive environment for their businesses to grow and succeed.”
Gbenga Omotosho, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, commended Ikosi-Isheri LCDA for focusing on more than just basic tasks like cleaning drainage and gutters.
He emphasized that local governments have the potential to contribute significantly to the economy and manage their finances effectively. This shift in responsibility is attributed to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which has increased funding for local governments. Princess Samiat Bada’s leadership in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA is praised for showcasing the untapped potential of local governments.
