Popular Nollywood actor Lawori has accused National Union of Road Transport Workers chieftain Ganiyu Oyedepo, also known as Koko Zaria, of attacking him and injuring him on the head. The Nigeria Police indicated that they will look into this accusation.
This was disclosed by the Force of Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday.
In a video posted on Monday morning by X user Oyindamola, who tweeted under the handle #dammiedammie35, the actor described how a bottle of alcohol was smashed on his head at the 2024 Idimu Day event held last Tuesday, June 25,204. He also, claimed that as he was working, an unidentified man entered the stage and informed him that the NURTW chief requested for him, which he complied.

Lawori narrated, “As I went to meet Koko Zaria to greet him, he asked if I didn’t see them here. Then I apologised and said I would do the needful when I returned to the stage.
“I then heard somebody ask if I was Lawori, thinking that he (the person) didn’t know me and was meeting me for the first time. It was later confirmed to him that I’m Lawori. “While I was talking with Koko Zaria and I turned, the man took a bottle of Martell (in front of Koko Zaria and his guys) and broke it on my head.” The actor said that he was “wet” with blood after the incident caused him to lose consciousness. He mentioned that he was in pain and could only remember how the hospital stitched his head.
“Please, Nigerians, assist me. He claimed that Koko Zaria was the one who sent someone to call him, but he couldn’t recall how he got to the hospital.
He begged, “Save me from Koko Zaria; I don’t know what I did to offend him.

“Using the hashtag #kokozaria_americaboy, the NURTW chief refuted the allegations in response to it on his Instagram page on Monday.
“Lawori has never offended me. We’re very close. I saw a video where he said I was the one who ordered the attack on him. What did he do to me?” he queried.
“Lawori, I don’t have anything to curse you (sic), but I want you to swear by everything you have and your ambition that I ordered the attack,” Oyedepo added.

According to the NURTW boss, he contacted the actor to meet him during the ceremony, which drew a sizable crowd, and expressed regret for missing a work that the actor had called him to.
Oyedepo remembered that when Lawori returned to the stage, he (Lawori) stopped playing the music they were listening to and about two of people started fighting him.
“As you were coming from the stage, I saw that people were hitting bottles on your head,” he said, admitting that he had not attended the event with his boys. You received treatment at the hospital where I took you to, I paid for your medical expenses and stayed with you and I even handed you a large sum of cash. All these happened on Tuesday.”

He added that he was the one who informed the actor’s wife about the event and that he and Lawori had left the hospital at around 1am in the morning.
According to Oyedepo, the actor prayed for him to express gratitude when he called him on the phone on Wednesday.
“I am aware of everything that is happening. The people who sent you I know. I hand you over to God,” he declared.

In the meantime, the PPRO stated in response to the video posted on social media that, “Justice will be served, and this will be investigated.” I’ve received a lot of calls regarding this case. @LagosPoliceNG, @FCID_ANNEX, @BenHundeyin, and @PoliceNG.
