BANDITS KILL KATSINA LECTURER, ABDUCTS CHILDREN
A lecturer at Katsina State’s Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) was slain by bandits.
Early on Tuesday, Dr. Tiri Gyan David was slain in a new bandit attack.
The speaker held the position of Head of the university’s Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development.
Over the phone, an eyewitness reported that the event happened at the lecturer’s house in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State, at around 1:30 in the morning.
He continued by saying that the bandits used highly developed weaponry to storm the neighborhood, firing intermittently to frighten the locals. Additionally, two of the lecturer’s children were kidnapped by the thugs, he claimed.
Abubakar Sadiq, a spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the occurrence but stated that a thorough statement will be issued shortly.
Despite efforts by security agencies and the state government to bring peace back to the state, Dutsinma is one of the ten security frontline local government districts that suffers practically daily from regular bandit attacks.
