EURO 2024: GARY LINEKER SLAMS UEFA OVER DECISION ON ENGLAND’S BELLINGHAM
Former Barcelona star, Gary Lineker has hit out at UEFA over its decision to investigate England midfielder, Jude Bellingham’s X-rated gesture during the Three Lions’ 2-1 victory over Slovakia at Euro 2024.
Bellingham had appeared to make a lewd gesture moments after scoring England’s injury-time equaliser against Slovakia in the last-16 encounter on Sunday.
It was initially believed that the Real Madrid star had aimed the gesture towards Slovakia’s bench.
However, Bellingham later clarified that it was an ‘inside joke’ with his friends who were inside the stadium.
But UEFA had confirmed that it has opened an investigation into Bellingham’s gesture and could take disciplinary action against the 21-year-old.
But Lineker has now slammed UEFA over its decision to potentially sanction Bellingham.
He wrote on X: “For crying out loud, the Euro 2024 celebration police are looking into Jude Bellingham. Ridiculous!”
