KOGI GOVT CONFIRMS TWO CHOLERA CASES, SETS UP RESPONSE UNIT
Two cases of cholera have been reported by the Kogi State Government in the local government areas of Lokoja and Omala.
In order to guarantee that the state is free of cholera, the administration has released a comprehensive set of infection prevention technologies, according to state Commissioner for Health Abdulazeez Adeiza, who made this announcement on Tuesday.
According to him, Kogi State has been lucky that the present cholera outbreak has had little effect on it.
Adeiza said that no fatalities have been reported in either of the two cases, one of which has already been released and the other is receiving treatment.
He claims that in order to stop the disease’s spread, the Ministry of Health has put strict surveillance procedures into place, given medical staff members in-depth training, and launched significant awareness programs.
According to the commissioner, the ministry had given its medical staff the tools and training required to respond to any potential outbreaks in any region of the state quickly and effectively.
He emphasized the value of community involvement and mentioned that the government is working with religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community leaders to inform the public about cholera prevention.
He also exhorted the populace to maintain proper hygiene habits, which include drinking clean water and washing hands frequently.
The commissioner directed the assembled cholera response team, which included medical professionals, surveillance officials, and lab technicians, to thoroughly look into cases that were reported, gather samples, and provide the necessary care to stop the disease from spreading.
