UNIBEN STUDENTS BLOCK LAGOS-BENIN EXPRESSWAY, AS THEY PROTEST OVER POWER OUTAGE
A protest is being organized by University of Benin students in response to a power outage that has continued for more than three weeks.
The students chose to block the Lagos-Benin Expressway’s outbound section on Wednesday morning as a form of protest because they could no longer stand the suffering that resulted from the outage.
Some students who spoke to Channels Television behind cameras claimed the stress was intolerable before the demonstrators chased the reporters away.
All cars are now required to continue traveling only on the expressway’s inbound route.
While the protest is ongoing, the school’s main gate is completely closed.
