OGUN VARSITY SUSPENDS EXAMS AFTER STUDENT KILLING BY ALLEGED CULTISTS

The management of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State has suspended the school’s ongoing second-semester examination indefinitely.
The choice was made in response to the death of Olaoye Fabiyi, a final-year student, who was purportedly killed by cult members.
It was reported on Wednesday that Fabiyi was dragged out of the examination hall while writing his final papers by some unidentified men.
A source who witnessed the incident said the armed men dragged him to a corner, where they shot at him and hit him with a brick on the head.
It is said that the attackers made sure he passed away before they left the area.
On Wednesday, Bethel Olorunfunmi, the acting president of the Students’ Union, also verified the victim’s death. She said that the medical team at an undisclosed general hospital had made futile attempts to save him.
The school’s deputy registrar, Babatunde Odugbesan, announced in a statement on Thursday that all exams held on campus have been put on indefinite hold.
The statement read, “The university management has directed the suspension of all examinations previously scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024, until further notice.
“Meanwhile, students are assured of their safety and are advised to remain calm while investigations are ongoing to get to the root of the cultist attack on a student on campus.
“Please note and be guided accordingly. Management will issue further notices on the resumption of examinations.”
Meanwhile, Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, revealed on Wednesday that the command had started an inquiry and conducted raids on suspected cultist hideouts in the area .
According to Odutola, every attempt is being made to capture each individual in the group accountable for the act.
“Our officers immediately moved to the scene of the incident. All possible hideouts of the suspects were combed and raided by our detectives, including those from other divisions in the area.
“Every effort is being made to ensure that all the perpetrators are apprehended,” Odutola stated
