According to Pearson, the winners were students who received the best global scores in English as a second language (speaking endorsement).
According to the country director, four Nigerian students passed the November 2023 Cambridge Examination series, while two achieved in the June 2023 series.
Six Nigerian pupils, according to her, attended The Ambassadors Group of Schools, James Hope College in Lagos, and Brookstone School.
According to the country director, the Brookstone School’s Oluwademilade David and Omaghomi Sharon won the June 2023 series.
She further mentioned that Bamidele Sharon attended the Ambassadors Group of Schools, while Obodoechi Chiedozie, Favour Chinecherem, and Fehintoluwa Erinayo attended James Hope College in Lagos.
Pearson also said that 95 students from 37 British Council partner schools generally achieved the remarkable feat of obtaining the highest marks in British Council partner schools in Nigeria.
She said, “These are in subjects such as Sociology, ICT, and Business Studies. This award is granted to students who have obtained the highest marks in the world in a single subject.
“Additionally, 71 students received the Top in Nigeria awards for achieving the highest standard mark in the country for individual subjects.
“We use strict criteria to calculate Cambridge Awards. These criteria ensure that the achievements we recognise are consistent across the world in all subjects and at all qualification levels,” the official said.
According to Pearson, students who obtain internationally recognised certificates have the advantage of being able to secure admission to top colleges, fantastic employment prospects, and a more fulfilling life.
According to the country director, the council considers it a privilege to collaborate with partner schools in Nigeria to provide UK tests and qualifications.
Mr. Juan Visser, Regional Director of Cambridge University’s Sub-Sahara Africa International Education, commended the Nigerian students on their academic success in the June and November 2023 assessment series.
Every component of Cambridge education, according to Visser, including the curriculum, instruction, resources, and evaluation, is thoughtfully created to support students in realising their full potential.
