LAGOS OFFICIALS INSPECT AMIKANLE ROAD CONSTRUCTION

A team of Lagos State officials from the Ministries of Economic Planning and Budget and Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), have carried out an inspection tour of the ongoing road construction project on Erelu way, Amikanle in Agbado-Okeodo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The inspection tour of the 1.3 km long road is aimed at determining the level of compliance with established standards as specified in the contract, evaluating the progress of work done, its impact on the residents of the community and ensuring value for money expended.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Baale of Amikanle, High Chief Akeem Oladejo expressed gratitude to the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for bringing the project to the community, explaining that the multiplier effect and developmental impact of the project on the community will forever be cherished.
He, however, decried the slow pace of work on the road just as he appealed to the monitoring team and the contractor to expedite action towards speedy completion of the project.
Responding on behalf of the visiting team, Engr. Onafuwa assured the people of the community that efforts will be intensified to ensure that the project is speedily completed, imploring them to be patient and cooperate with the contractor.
The Road project, which includes the construction of drainages and nearing 50% completion, will facilitate easy access and reduce traffic time within and around the community, improve socio-economic activities and livelihoods of residents, enhance security and attract investment to the community in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
