CRIME: POLICE HAND OVER MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED SUICIDE FOR MENTAL EVALUATION
Shuaibu Yushau was sent by the FCT police command to the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) today for a psychological diagnosis and assessment in response to his somewhat concerning behavior on Monday that alarmed the public.
In an attempt to end his life, Yushau scaled a tall internet pole at ASO Radio, located in Katampe, Abuja.
If the test results show that the suspect is mentally stable, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, signed a statement stating that the suspect will face charges in court for incitement, attempted suicide, and disturbance of public peace in violation of sections 231, 111, and 114 of the Penal Code Act.
Then, CP Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, asked the populace to uphold the law while advocating for their views to be heard, saying that the police would not be intimidated into permitting the collapse of law and order.
