PESEIRO LINKED WITH RETURN AS SUPER EAGLES COACH
Jose Peseiro has been linked with a return to the Super Eagles coaching job.
After leading the Super Eagles to a second place finish at the AFCON 2023, Peseiro left his position and was replaced by Finidi George. The former winger has since taken over the Rivers United head coach job.
According to Gerald Baloyi of local agency, Vodia Sports International Management, Peseiro has been offered to South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Portuguese joins Frenchman Patrice Carteron, and former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer, who are also linked with Sundowns.
Baloyi, however, said despite Peseiro being linked with the Sundowns coaching job, he could return to the Super Eagles job.
“Yes Vodia Sports International Management offered Jose Peseiro to Sundowns, though the Nigerian national teams are interested in bringing him to take over again,” Gerald Baloyi told KickOff.
Peseiro led the Eagles to 1-1 draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe on matchday 1 and 2 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.
The Eagles currently occupy fifth place in Group C on three points after four games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles will take on Rwanda, Benin Republic and Libya.
