All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six other party members are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to answer allegations of alleged bribery, diversion, and theft of funds totaling billions of naira.

This happened after the respondents received a notice of trial via alternative delivery methods per the court’s directive.

The order was granted by a Kano State High Court on June 5, 2024, enabling the state to serve the seven respondents via substituted service. On June 6, 2024, the order was carried out by placing advertising in two national newspapers.

First respondent Abdullahi Ganduje, second respondent Hafsat, third respondent Abubakar Bawuro, fourth respondent Umar Abdullahi Umar, fifth respondent Jibrilla Muhammad, seventh respondent Safari Textiles Ltd, and eighth respondent Lesage General Enterprises are among the respondents in this case.

The order was issued by Justice Amina Adamu, the case’s judge, on an application made by Zahradeen Kofar-Mata, an attorney for the state administration who was representing Ya’u Adamu, the lead prosecutor.

“This court grants the application for substituted service because it is necessary to ensure the respondents are duly notified of the proceedings,” stated Justice Adamu during the court session.

“The matter is adjourned till July 11, 2024, for hearing, and all parties involved are ordered to present their fiat to the court.”

The hearing is expected to commence at 10am at the Kano State High Court on Thursday.
