EURO 2024: SPAIN SETS NEW CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD AFTER WIN VS FRANCE
Spain set a new men’s European Championship record after coming from behind to beat France 2-1 in Tuesday’s semi-finals.
Randal Kolo Muani opened the scoring for France just nine minutes into the game as he nodded in Kylian Mbappe’s cross.
In the 21th minute Spain equalised thanks to a Lamine Yamal’s left-foot curler into the top corner.
Just just minutes after Yamal’s goal, Dani Olmo made it 2-1 to Spain who recorded their sixth win of the tournament.
The win means Spain are the first side in men’s Euros history to win six games at a single tournament and the first team to win six games in a row.
Spain will now face either Euro 1988 champions the Netherlands or England in Sunday’s final.
They are one game away from a record-breaking fourth European Championship trophy, after emerging winners in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
