PARIS 2024: ‘I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN MY PLAYERS – D’TIGRESS COACH, WAKAMA
Rena Wakama, the head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, D’Tigress, has expressed confidence in the team. She pointed to the intensity of the training the players have undergone since arriving in Germany in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 10.
D’Tigress had traveled to start their pre-Olympics training camp in Saarbrucken, Germany.
Ahead of the global multi-sports showpiece, coach Rena assured that her players would not rest on their oars, adding that they would compete toe-to-toe on the court with their opponents.
“Things have been going well in the camp in the last few days, as we have had great practice sessions and the girls are in great spirits,” Wakama remarked in a chat with NBBF media.
“The girls are responding well to training and getting better, everyday. And that’s what matters.
“I am confident that the girls will be able to display their talents when we get to Paris. I’m excited and looking forward to the games.”
Meanwhile, the team will test their might in three friendly matches. They will face Germany in Berlin on July 19, take on Serbia in Belgrade, on July 21 and Japan in Lille, France on July 24 respectively.
