SUICIDE: MAN HANGS SELF AFTER ALLEGED SEIZURE OF TRICYLE BY LASTMA OFFICIALS
Tragically, a tricyclist in Lagos State’s Ikorodu neighborhood committed suicide after making vain attempts to get his stolen tricycle back from government officers.
Report claims that as the anonymous individual was traveling within the state, he was stopped by authorities. According to rumors, the police took his tricycle and drove it down the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway to their office close to Jubilee Estate.
The tricyclist kept trying to get his car back, but his attempts were unsuccessful. Seemingly frustrated with the state of affairs, the man attempted to object to the seizure.
He hanged himself from a tree in front of the compound that housed the Vehicle Inspection Officers, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and Federal Road Safety Corps offices, according to eyewitnesses.

An eyewitness, Prince Excel of Aiyekooto Reporters, who captured the incident on video, described it as unfortunate, noting that the suicide occurred early Thursday morning.
The report notes that the footage shows the victim’s body suspended from a tree by a rope around his neck.
A note accompanying Excel’s video indicated that the tricyclist took his life due to the authorities’ refusal to return his seized tricycle, despite his pleas.
The spokesperson for LASTMA, Taofiq Adebayo, however, denied any involvement of their officers in the seizure, stating that no tricycle was impounded within their premises in the area.
“We don’t know anything about the incident,” Adebayo stated. “LASTMA is not involved in anything of such, and we don’t know anything about the hanging of the dead body.”
