Former US President, Donald Trump, has left the hospital and returned to his home in New Jersey after he was injured in an attempted assassination during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Trump, who emerged with a bloodied face, says he was shot in the ear, describing a “bullet ripping through skin,” BBC reports.

The Trump campaign said in a statement on Saturday evening that the former President was “fine” and that he was “being checked out at a local medical facility.”

Donald Trump Jr. told ABC News that his father, Donald Trump, is “in good spirits” as he remains under medical observation after the assassination attempt at the rally in Pennsylvania.

The assassination attempt occurred at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Trump was shot in the ear and was seen with blood dripping on his face.

Despite the assassination attempt, Trump is still scheduled to fly to Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention.

The FBI is leading the investigation, and the suspected shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was shot dead by the Secret Service.

One spectator was killed at the rally and two others were critically injured, while a witness told the BBC that he saw a man with a rifle crawling on a roof before shots rang out, and that he tried to warn police.
